u3a Luton is now

30 years old!

Welcome to u3a Luton. Luton the home of the straw boater made famous by Maurice Chevalier who bought all his from our local manufacturers. Also famous in the past for Vauxhall Motors and the hat trade and of course, now, our local football team the 'Hatters'.

Begun in April 1996, u3a Luton has over 600 members. There are 69 groups covering over 50 topics. The groups meet either weekly, fortnightly or monthly, often in members' homes but also in local community centres. We have now been established for 30 years and celebrated our milestone in April of this year.

Each month there is a general meeting at Venue 360 Gypsy Lane Luton from 9.45am - 12pm which is open to all members. Details of these meetings are on the Events and Notices pages. There are a couple of buses which run via Luton Interchange to Luton Parkway Station, the Centrebus number 366 and the 230 Caddington bus. Please refer to the actual bus timetables to find out current running times. Members also receive our In Touch magazine which contains news and details about future events etc. and copies of u3a Matters - the National U3A magazine as part of their membership.

u3a Luton is about self-help learning through our study groups, in which members share their knowledge and interest in the subject, keeping mind and body active through our walking and activity groups, organising trips to stately homes, gardens, museums and art galleries and other places of interest and meeting other like-minded people.
